Question: Was Bro. Johnson dishonest and using trickery when he frequently quoted from Bro. Russell and insert his own explanations and comments in brackets, as he did repeatedly in E 4, Chapter 1, and elsewhere?
Answer: Surely not! It is quite customary for one to quote another's writing and put his own comments in brackets... The very fact that they are inserted in brackets indicates, generally speaking, that they are not a part of the original text quoted.
...a bracketed ellipsis [...] is often used to indicate deleted material; bracketed comments indicate when original text has been modified for clarity...
Wouldn't the opposite thought apply if brackets weren't used? i.e. 2004 PT Quasi-Elect and others articles?

I would like to comment about the matter of error that you are refuting and what I see as the human reason behind it's “inception.”
Unlike other errorist of the past who tried to extend the high calling of the Church to include them and thereby give them the right to meddle in the spirit begotten's work by bringing forth “new light,” Mr. Herzig has pulled a new and improved “Jambres” trick. By moving the beginning, (inception), of the Youthful Worthy call back into the Parousia time period; back into the harvest of the Church, this somehow, (in his mind at least), gives him the authority, as having a somewhat equal place with them, to meddle in their affairs and change, (corrupt), their teachings and that somehow their teachings had something to do with him. Getting others to believe this foundational error enforces his own belief that he is right. In his mind ,(and in others minds as well), he is setting himself up to be more than what he is or ever could have been. I fear that he has been cast out of the court into the camp.

WA,

Isa. 55: 11
Jehovah's word will not return to him void.
Whether Bro. Herzig knows it or not; by moving the Youthful Worthies as a separate and distinct class to 1878, he has taken the honor and glory that belongs to the Gospel Age Church, and placed the emphasis on a lesser class.
