From Brother Johnson Regarding Canticles

E11, page 692: The following are the divisions of this book: 1: 1—2: 7 treats of the Church's experiences during the Jewish Harvest; 2: 8-17 treats of certain Parousia experiences of the Church; 3: 1-11 treats of the Church's experiences during the Dark Ages (1) and then from 1691 to 1914; 4: 1—5: 1 treats of the Parousia experiences of the Church doctrinally and ethically; 5: 2—6: 3 treats of the foolish virgins in the nominal church during the Parousia and Epiphany;  6: 4—8: 14 treats of the Epiphany Church in herself, in her contacts with Jesus and in her contacts with the Great Company and the Youthful Worthies, and incidentally of certain things as to the Great Company and the Youthful Worthies...

E11, pages 714-715: The Church individually declares that she has a fellow class of young consecrators (a little sister, 8), i.e., the Youthful Worthies. When in the Parousia mention was made of these, no Old Testament nor New Testament passages (hath no breasts) were quoted to prove their existence, which was then inferred from the fact that the close of the general call was followed by more consecrators than there were available crowns, and from the attitude of the Divine attributes toward the faith classes. But there came in the Epiphany, at whose start in 1914 the door of entrance into the high calling closed for new aspirants (Luke 13: 24-27), the time when it was due that this class begin to come to the front, be recognized as such and as such be sought for by figurative suitors...

Bro. Johnson correctly treats the Epiphany Church in her contacts with the Youthful Worthies starting in 1914 when the Epiphany began. Bro. Johnson makes it crystal clear the Youthful Worthies begin to come to the front in 1914 as a separate and distinct class.

When Shiloh Comes, P2 Pages 86-87

"Shiloh having received the scepter and 'all power' at his resurrection, because of his obedience unto death, will indeed bless Israel first, but not fleshly Israel, for they are not all true Israelites who are called such according to the flesh (Rom. 9: 6). Shiloh, the heir, is seeking and finding children of Abraham according to the spirit, such as share the Abrahamic disposition of faith and obedience, both from his natural posterity and from among the Gentiles, to be a people for his name (Acts 15: 14). And after this [after the gathering of his elect Church is accomplished—in the harvest or end of the Gospel age, at the close of the Gentile Times] he will turn again his favor and will build again the ruins of Israel, and finally of all the families of the earth, upon a better basis than has ever entered into the heart of man to conceive. He who now holds the scepter, whose right it is to rule, will at the expiration of the Gentile Times receive the crown also; "and unto him shall the gathering of the people be" (Gen. 49: 10). The scepter, or title to "all power in heaven and in earth," was given unto him at his resurrection, but he awaits the Father's appointed time, the limit of the Gentile Times, before he will take his great power and begin his glorious reign—Rev. 11: 17, 18.

Now bear in mind the date already found for the beginning of these Gentile Times, B.C. 606, while we proceed to examine the evidence proving their length to be 2520 years, ending A.D. 1914."

The Executive Trustee's "present view" overshadows the true work of our Lord during the Parousia and its 40 year harvest from 1874-1914.

Page 462 is one of the most interesting in E4 when considering the Executive Trustee's "present view" idea. If we don't change the four instances of 1881 to 1878 and modify the "general call" reference, his new 1878-81 Youthful Worthies cannot see the hidden mystery. It doesn't make any sense that they would not have this ability.

How is it possible that Bro. Johnson didn't include them in being able to see spiritual things? Maybe it is because they didn't exist during this time.

Page 443 is much like some of the other pages we've recently modified. Any reference to 1881 needs to be changed to 1878 if we are to accept the Executive Trustee's belief that the Youthful Worthies began in that year. His Youthful Worthies must be included in this answer because they should be available to fill any future potential vacancies in the Little Flock (see E4, page 420) and therefore their status is unsure.

Coming out of Babylon

PT. 1971, Pg. 38: (9) In the larger antitype, set forth in par. (7), the highest class of God's people that came out of Babylon is the Royal Priesthood, the Little Flock. All of this class were reaped and gleaned by the Harvest Truth message and came out from 1878 to 1916 (John 9: 4; Rev. 7: 1-4; 6: 9-11; Isa. 66: 7; Amos 9: 13, etc.; E 5, pp. 143-165; C, Appendix, pp. 387-404). Also, many crown-losers came out, though not then known as such individually or as a class (E 4, pp. 215, par. 1, 246, bot., 250, par. 1, 466; E 5, p. 174). In the antitype, in the finished picture the Priests (crown-retainers) alone are represented in the Holy; and as Divine beings they are represented in the Most Holy (in the type, only the priests served in the Holy and Most Holy of the temple). The next class among those to leave Babylon consists of antitypical Levites. (Many antitypical Levites have remained in Babylon and therefore are not noted in this picture.) From 1878 to 1914, the antitypical Levites who left Babylon were unconsecrated tentatively justified ones and also some consecrated ones for whom no openings to be of the Little Flock were available (though not then known as individuals or as a class). In the Epiphany from 1914 to 1954, the antitypical Levites who left Babylon were of (a) the unconsecrated tentatively justified; (b) the subordinate Gospel-Age Spirit-begotten class—the Great Company—who were formerly in the Holy as prospective Priests; (c) the consecrated, Spirit-enlightened elect class for whom no crowns were available, and who therefore were not Spirit-begotten—the Youthful Worthies. But in the post-1954 setting (P '59, pp. 36-38), only classes (b) and (c) are antitypical Levites, in the Court. (In the type, only the Levites—in addition to the priests, whom they specially assisted—served in the court; but the Levites were not permitted to enter the Holy or Most Holy.) The Great Company in its three groups—Kohathites, Merarites and Gershonites—is represented in the inner, or higher, court of the temple, with its three rows of stones; and the Youthful Worthies in their similar three groups are represented in the outer court, with its three rows of stones (1 Kings 7: 12; P '68, p. 71).

From the same year PT. 1971, Pages 76-77 helps clarify the above: We agree that it is through the Truth that God calls to consecration. In fact, everyone who up to 1878 (when the fullness of the Gentiles came in) made a full consecration was by that Truth begotten of the Spirit, as called to the High Calling. But between 1881 and 1914 only certain ones were through the Truth by God, usually quite some time after the Truth induced them to consecrate, begotten unto the High Calling; and the other consecrators, though induced by the Truth to consecrate, were not Spirit-begotten, and hence were not initiated into the High Calling; and since Oct. 1914, the Truth induces many to consecrate but begets none to the High Calling.

Page 440 is a continuation of the answer started on 439, so we have to be consistent and change both instances of 1881 to 1878. Had we not changed the second instance of 1881 to 1878, then the Executive Trustee's new Youthful Worthies would not have knowledge of the deep things. That cannot be right.

Page 439 is another one that needs repair in order to match the beliefs of the Executive Trustee. If there were Youthful Worthies from 1878 to 1881, then they should have been included in this answer because they were not begotten of the Spirit. They would be a part of that majority. A more precise change could be:

"While we know that all of those who consecrated between 1878-81 and the majority of those who consecrated between 1881 and 1914 were not begotten of the Spirit . . ."

The Fuller Truth on the Consecrated

(10) The fuller truth on the consecrated, Spirit-enlightened but not Spirit-begotten elect class, developed here in the end of the Age after the closing of the door of entrance into the High Calling, was not yet due to be given in Bro. Russell's day. Nevertheless, the Lord did privilege him to point out this class—which we call the Youthful Worthies—as one that would eventually be rewarded with the Ancient Worthies (see, e.g., F 156, 157; Question Book, pp. 151, 152, 154, 156-158; Z 4836; 5761, col. 2 [in par. 2 he refers to them as a class]; comp. E 4, pp. 317-469).

If the Youthful Worthies were called starting in 1878 and they became a class in 1881, as the Executive Trustee believes, then it seems strange Bro. Johnson wrote that all consecrators before Sept. 16, 1914 were to be accepted as priests. Why were no indications due until then if a separate call was already in effect during the harvest? We don't know, so we chose to point out this oddity on the page to make it fit better with the "present view."

This page is problematic for the Executive Trustee. It says nothing about Youthful Worthies consecrating between 1878 and 1881. If everyone at the time thought they were running for the high calling, then we need to move the 1881 date back to 1878 so that the Executive Trustee's new consecrators can have the opportunity to learn that they were not Spirit-begotten.

Interestingly, if the Executive Trustee wanted to misread the starting date of another class, he could take the part where Bro. Johnson says, "through which both of these classes," to mean that the Great Company also began as a class in 1881 and that Bro. Johnson somehow had two views on their existence.

PT 1976, Page 21

In all siftings Satan is the real, behind-the-scenes sifter—the one who originates, initiates and carries on persistently the sifting activity (Luke 22: 31; 1 Pet. 5: 8). He uses as his visible agents those who are the most suitable to his purposes and who succumb to his temptations, who are pliable in his hand and do not sufficiently resist him to hinder his use of them in pertinent respects (James 4: 7; Eph. 4: 27).

Ever since Bro. Russell passed beyond the veil, in 1916, Satan has used a variety of methods in his efforts to ensnare God's Parousia-enlightened people. For example, he appealed convincingly to some of these brethren to reject the post-1916 Truth, by claiming that after 1916 there was to be little or no advancing Truth—that the door of entrance into the High Calling was not closed in the Fall of 1914 but remained open, that the Epiphany, or Apocalypse, as a period did not then begin, that no Youthful Worthy class was being developed (including post-1914 consecrators), etc...

A Consistent Message

PT 1984, Pg. 23: The Apostle Paul's words in 1 Cor. 2: 9-16 denying that the non-Spirit-begotten are able to understand "the deep things of God" are limited to the time the general call to the High Calling was open, during which time to be Spirit-begotten and to be consecrated meant the same thing, and so all the consecrated were then Spirit-begotten, which was not the case before the call to the High Calling opened. So after the general call ceased, Paul's pertinent words do not apply universally. But the rule that applies always is that only the consecrated can see the due Truth. Therefore, "Those Consecrating Between the Ages" do have the due Truth on the deep things as a witness of their being friends and servants and prospective sons of God.

Since the Executive Trustee's new Youthful Worthy call in 1878 begins at the same time as the No-Ransomism sifting during the Gospel-Age Harvest (see references below), we have conflicting statements that need fixing on page 426. Bro. Johnson is clearly showing us that the Youthful Worthies were not referred to in this parable and that none were in existence until after the general call ceased. To help the Executive Trustee out, we've added these new Youthful Worthies to the time period without including them in the parable. It doesn't quite work, but it is the best solution we can offer.

PT May-June 1978, p. 38: "As the 1845-year parallel, in the Spring of 1878, 100 years ago, the No-Ransomism sifting began in the Gospel-Age Harvest, with our Lord driving away the unworthy from His Temple class."

PT Sept-Oct 1989, p.68 under the title No-Ransomism Sifting Begins: "But while we were thus helped to clearer views and brighter hopes and while we diligently endeavored to help others, the Spring of 1878 proved far from a blessing to Mr. Barbour and to many under his influence."

Letters of General Interest - From Jamaica

PT. 1980 Pg. 95

Dear Bro. Greetings in Jesus's name!. . . . In a pilgrim visit to Crofts ill, I called on a 93-year-old Brother who until recently was an elder from in Bro. Condell's day. He consecrated in 1906. I said, "You know the last Great Company member is gone? He replied, "Yes." I said, "You don't mind being a Youthful Worthy?" He said, Brother, I would be glad, for I know not everyone who consecrated and accepted the Truth from 1881 to 1914 was begotten of the Spirit." I was very glad to hear that. I close with love for you and all there.

Your brother and servant, N.S., Jamaica

Important Events of 1878 and Onward

The following is from PT. 1978 Pg. 36-40. Notice that the Youthful Worthies as an important event are never associated with 1878 date because they didn't exist. The emphasis of this class is always referred to after 1914 since up to that time, Jehovah's main focus was to complete the Church.

IN OUR Sept.-Oct. 1974 issue (a copy free on request), we called attention to many significant events and marvelous evidences of progress during 1874-1974, the first century of "the thousand years" of Christ's Reign (Rev. 20: 4, see Diaglott)...

...THE PARALLEL 40-YEAR HARVEST REAPING PERIODS ENDED IN 69 and 1914 A.D.
In treating of the Harvest parallels, Bro. Russell stated (B245, par. 2), "Remember that the forty years' Jewish harvest ended October, A.D. 69, and was followed by the complete overthrow of that nation; and that likewise the forty years of the Gospel age harvest will end October, 1914, and that likewise the overthrow of 'Christendom,' so-called, must be expected to immediately follow."

The Scriptures, reason and facts show that the close of the Gospel-Age Harvest reaping was in Oct. 1914 (in harmony with Bro. Russell's statement) and that the close of the gleaning was in 1916. Such passages as Isa. 66: 7; Amos 9: 13; John 9: 4; Rev. 6: 9-11; 7: 1-3, show this. It is corroborated by the end of the floor line measurement of the Grand Gallery of the Great Pyramid, which comes at its juncture with the Grand Gallery's south wall, indicating Sept. 16, 1914 as the end of the Spirit-begetting...

Bro. Russell never gave up 1874 as the date for the Harvest reaping's beginning, though when he saw too many people coming into the Truth in 1916 to constitute a gleaning, he changed his mind as to the close of the Harvest reaping's ending. The Lord for very wise reasons withheld from him the understanding that these people were not prospective Little Flock members, but in almost all cases were antitypical Lot (crown-losers) and his two antitypical daughers (Youthful Worthies and tentatively-justified believers) escaping from antitypical Sodom in America before it here would begin to go into destruction (Luke 17: 28-30; for details on the Z 5950 article, see PT No. 515)...

Like 1874, the year 1878 also marks some very important happenings and the beginnings of other significant events in God's great Plan of the Ages. We will note a number of these here. It is fitting that we consider at this time what the Lord has accomplished during these past 100 years, the marvelous evidences of progress...

CALLING GOD'S PEOPLE OUT OF BABYLON
Conjoined with Jesus as King casting off the nominal Jewish system in 33 A.D. was His call to Israelites indeed to come out of that system, into separateness and closer fellowship with Him, lest they become involved in "the wrath to the uttermost" that would soon come upon it (1 Thes. 2: 16). They were not to expect God to give the seasonal Truth through that system.
In the parallel 1845 years later, in the Spring of 1878, 100 years ago, God's declaring through Jesus that Babylon was fallen was conjoined with the call to God's true people to "Come out of her, my people," into separateness and closer fellowship with Him, lest they would be partakers of her sins and receive of her plagues (Rev. 18: 4, 5; comp. Isa. 52: 11; Jer. 51: 45).
God's people were not to expect the seasonal Truth, "the voice of the bridegroom and the bride," to be heard at all in Babylon—through her instrumentality—any more forever (Rev. 18: 23). But whereas the Lord would no longer speak through her instrumentality after 1878, He would speak from outside her to those in her, calling them to come out, to be gathered to Him (Psa. 50: 5; Matt. 24: 31), so that they could feast with Him on the seasonal Truth (Matt. 24: 28; Luke 12: 37; 17: 37; Rev. 3: 20).

This call for Little Flock members to "come out of her" continued until the last member of the Little Flock was sealed in the forehead (April 18, 1916), i.e., was given enough intellectual understanding of the Truth to leave Babylon or wherever they were (Rev. 7: 3).

As already mentioned, the door of entrance to the High Calling closed on Sept. 16, 1914, and since then the voice of the Bridegroom is no more being heard in Babylon inviting any to the High Calling. But He has still been inviting others to be of "those consecrating between the ages" (5761, col. 2, pars. 1, 2; comp. Z 4836, pars. 3-6, 10, 11; F 156, 157; Question Book, pp. 147, 151-158), the Spirit-enlightened, non-Spirit-begotten consecrators; and by the seasonal Truth He has been inviting them to come out of Babylon or wherever they are, into closer fellowship with Him and feasting on the Truth. We rejoice in the many consecrating since 1914 and also many coming out of Babylon into the Truth.

"THE FULNESS OF GENTILES" COMING IN
By "the fullness of the Gentiles" (Rom. 11: 25) we understand the full number of the elect Little Flock who are gathered out from the Gentiles to be meant. Because there were not enough fleshly Israelites in the Jewish Harvest who were "Israelites indeed" to fill up the elect 144,000, God visited the Gentiles to complete the predestinated number (John 1: 11-13; Acts 15: 14; Rom. 11: 5, 7, 11-15, 17-24; Rev. 5: 9, 10; 7: 1-8).

We should not confuse "the fulness of the Gentiles" with "the times of the Gentiles" (Luke 21: 24), which is the period of (7 x 360) 2,520 years from 607 B.C. to 1914, in which God gave a lease of power to the Gentiles. It is also referred to as the "seven times" (Lev. 26: 18, 21, 24, 28; Dan. 4: 10-37).

We understand that "the fulness of the Gentiles" came in probationarily at Passover 1878. In other words, those who from Pentecost onward until then had made their calling and election sure as Little Flock members, plus prospective Little Flock members who were then under the call but had not made their calling and election sure, plus those of them who at that time came under the call, totaled the entire 144,000.

Then, in the Spring of 1878, the John class (the Lord's enlightened consecrated people at the time of the fulfilment) saw the grand vision for the first time of the Lamb standing on Mt. Zion, and with Him the full 144,000. Jehovah in 1878 set His King upon the holy hill of Zion (Psa. 2: 6; Z 5990, par. 2).

The small sifting involving disgruntled Adventists in 1875 and the No-Ransomism sifting beginning at Passover 1878 imply that a large number lost their crowns between 1874 and 1878, which crowns were not only assigned to others, but enough of still other Gentiles came under that call during the Oct. 1874-Apr. 1878 period to fill up the 144,000 probationarily.
After 1881 special calls went forth to fill up the places of those who under test proved unworthy to be of the Little Flock. This continued until Sept. 16, 1914 (as already shown), when the door of entrance into the High Calling closed forever, as Scriptures, reason and facts show, corroborated by the Pyramid.

Now that 100 years have passed since "the fulness of the Gentiles" came in probationarily in 1878, and 64 years since 1914, it is high time that all Truth people should realize that they are not in the High Calling, but rather that all new consecrators since the Fall of 1914 are of "those consecrating between the Ages," the Spirit-enlightened, non-Spirit-begotten pre-Millennial seed of Abraham.

The answer to the question from page 419 needs the same date change. Without this edit to page 420, the Executive Trustee's new Youthful Worthies from 1878-81 are not put on the reserved list.

We cannot suppose that the start of the reserved list was delayed for 3 1/2 years for these new consecrators, because Bro. Johnson wrote, "for whom there were no crowns available at the time of their consecration;" (using a semicolon at the end). The semicolon separates this main clause with the one that immediately follows it. While these clauses are closely related to each other, they could stand on their own as sentences. It means that the reserved list was to begin when there were consecrators and no crowns available. By changing the date to 1878, we make that possible for the Executive Trustee.

Regarding a Recent Statement from The British Representative

Many Brethren in America and other countries have the highest esteem for the British representative's ability as a speaker and his understanding of historical events surrounding the Truth movement. However, statements of the kind shown above raise questions as to the proper understanding of the arrangements.

The Epiphany brethren in America do not reject the arrangements pertinent to the office of the Executive Trustee. However, we do reject the error coming from this office. We reject and are opposed to the deviation from the precious Truth given by God's special servants.

Since the representative includes some quotes from the Truth writings, may we suggest a few additional references: "ITS TEACHINGS" in PT 1919, page 103; Bro. H.W. Roberts "The Movement" audio recording; E4 in its entirety including the questions pertinent to the Youthful Worthies and especially page 290, par. 46: "We have already shown that God's 'counsel' or plan consists of the various series of arrangements whereby He brings various classes to eternal life. He who revolutionizes against these arrangements, i.e., set them aside and puts others in their place, condemns, considers negligible, of no importance, the counsel of the Most High."

To be in harmony with the Executive Trustee as stated above means to be in harmony with Clericalism, Sectarianism and in support of error. The real truth on what has really happened in America, based on facts, would surprise many foreign brethren and the British representative.

Page 419 doesn't require much editing, but it certainly alters the meaning. Without the edit, the Executive Trustee's new Youthful Worthies from 1878-81 are not addressed in this question. Bro. Johnson, examining this question during the Epiphany, is looking back to the 1881-1914 time and showing that those without Spirit-begettal are "now" of the Youthful Worthies. By changing the date to 1878, we lose Bro. Johnson's understanding in order to help the Executive Trustee with his present view. We'll have more edits for the answer on the next page.

The Editor's Reply to the Above

Dear Sister: Greetings in Jesus' name... Pastor Russell showed that from 1881 onward there would be some consecrated ones for whom no crowns, no places in the Little Flock,... Thus, since 1914 many additional Youthful Worthies have come forth...

...I suppose you have consecrated, or dedicated, yourself to God (Rom 12: 1; Prov. 23:26), giving up your own will self-ward and world-ward and accepting His will as your own... Obviously, however, you did not consecrate before the close of the door in 1914. It is regrettable that some are urging you to run for the High Calling at this late date. In doing so, they are not doing a Divinely approved work.

Bro. Jolly's above explanation tells us many things. 1914 is a significant date and that the door to the High Calling closes. Because the High Calling is complete, individual consecrators from 1881 - 1914 (those who are manifested as specific non Spirit-Begotten Consecrated Ones and not Spirit Begotten) are no longer a superfluity (an excessively large amount), because they flow into and became a part of the Youthful Worthy class. After 1914, the specific call to the Youthful Worthies could begin and they came forth as a separate and distinct class. This is the legacy Truth all previous Executive Trustees supported until the current one took office in 2004.

We're on the very first page of the chapter that covers questions on the Youthful Worthies and our marker is being put to good use. To make this page work for the Executive Trustee, we have to remove the parallel construction that Bro. Johnson uses to show the development of the Great Company and Youthful Worthies as classes in the Epiphany. The Great Company is now the only Epiphany class because we have to move the development of the Youthful Worthy class back to 1881. What a mess!

Literally Youthfuls - Joel 2: 28

Crown-losers who have attained a place in the Great Company have been in the process of development all through the Gospel Age. All Great Company members had to be Spirit-begotten by the Fall of 1914 to be eligible for this class. They are raised from the dead in the second kind of resurrection to life. They have glorious spirit bodies of a spirit nature lower than the Divine, and can come and go as the wind (John 3: 8). They are the Bridesmaids, who accompany the Bride into the King's palace and share in the great blessings of the Marriage Supper of the Lamb, partaking there of wonderful spiritual blessings (Psa. 45: 14, 15; Rev. 19: 9; P '79, pp. 89-92).

The Great Company as spirit beings will be higher than the Ancient Worthies Millennially. But after the Little Season, when the Ancient Worthies become spiritual, the Great Company, the antitypical Merarites, will have the highest place under the Ancient Worthies—the antitypical Kohathites—and the Little Flock-the antitypical Priests. The reward of the Great Company is a glorious one indeed. (For details on this class, see PT Nos. 562, 563.)

"Those Consecrating Between the Ages" (Z 5761) seem to be referred to by the "small" in v. 18. Like the Ancient Worthies, they have received the enlightenment, heart-warming and energizing of the holy Spirit, but not the Spirit-begettal. As earthly seed of Abraham, they will be associated Millennially with the Ancient Worthies in the blessing of all the families of the earth.

The Youthful Worthy class (literally youthfuls, Joel 2: 28) among them consists of those who consecrated from the Fall of 1881 to the Fall of 1914 and remained loyal, for whom no crowns were available and all those who consecrated from the Fall of 1914 to the Fall of 1954 and have remained loyal.

Here is the last page we will modify in this chapter of E4. Again, we're just trying to help the Executive Trustee with his "present view" that doesn't work with the very book he believes shows it. There are other pages near 385 we could modify because they offer hints and suggestions of the correct dates (see 381 and 383), but this page is a good representation of them. Our marker is out of ink and it is time to get a new one for the next chapter.

"The Lord evidently held them in reserve" 1881 - 1914

With a sincere heart, ask yourself these Berean questions from the Truth writings:

"When did the Youthful Worthies not exist as individuals of a class? What has transpired since then? Since the Fall of 1914? What is the reason for the Youthful Worthies coming into existence as a class? Therefore what did not happen to the surplus consecrators?"-PT. 1972 Pg. 57

"Before the General Call to the Divine nature and joint-heirship with Christ ceased in 1881, the persons that we call "Youthful Worthies" did not exist as individuals of a class; but since that time they have come into existence as such, and since the Fall of 1914 have become very marked as a separate and distinct class. The reason for the Youthful Worthies coming into existence as a class, though for a time undiscerned as such, is that, after the General Call ceased in 1881, more people consecrated to the Lord than could be probationarily assigned vacated crowns i.e., places in the Little Flock; and therefore the surplus consecrators, though receiving the enlightenment of the holy Spirit, were not Spirit-begotten. The Lord evidently held them in reserve; and as from time to time crowns were lost by the measurably unfaithful, He selected the most faithful and eligible of the surplus consecrators and by Spirit-begettal probationarily assigned to them the crowns that were lost. As time went on, the number of surplus consecrators in reserve continued increasing more rapidly than the number of lost crowns; consequently, a large number of these consecrators was in reserve when the last eventual Little Flock members came under the call (see PT No. 515—a copy free on request)."- PT. 1972 Pg. 34

How simple the Truth is to understand when we see why the Lord "held them in reserve" in order to complete the call to the Church in 1914.

We're only one page beyond the Executive Trustee's misread references and we've got three problems. First, his new consecrators between 1878-81 have no opportunities to serve in the Harvest until the gleaning in 1881 and it should be indicated. Second, more were consecrating than could have crowns since 1878, not 1881. Third, we have to exchange the indefinite condition for the definite--the clear understanding that Brother Johnson gave on the difference between the unbegotten consecrated and the Youthful Worthies as he later details in PT April 1947, pages 52-53:

“It is true that our Pastor called the class that we call Youthful Worthies, not Youthful Worthies, but the Unbegotten Consecrated, by which expression he meant exactly what we mean by that of the Youthful Worthies. We may be sure that in denying the existence of a class that our Pastor repeatedly affirmed exists, this Brother is a revolutionist…”

“…thus the Brother's assumption of restitution following immediately after God's last visit to Gentiles for Little Flock members falls to the ground. The Youthful Worthies as individuals have been developing since in 1881 the general call ceased, and as a class since the last Little Flock member was won in 1914.”

Unauthorized Electioneering?

"The brethren at large remember clearly how you electioneered to get Bro. Ralph elected..." is an accusation that has been spread around by a few brethren as an attempt to discredit Pilgrim Bro. Richard Blaine. They are misinformed. We thank Bro. Blaine for providing us copy of the e-mail the then temporary Executive Trustee sent to him on February 27, 2004 in order to share it with you on the blog.

The e-mail clearly shows that the temporary Executive Trustee, Bro. Ralph Herzig, gave the approval for Pilgrim Bro. Richard Blaine to reach out and contact the brethren by e-mail. Follow up phone calls were then made to individuals to get a person count for that upcoming convention in Florida 2004 as well as to make sure the references Bro. Ralph wanted distributed were received and understood.

Unauthorized Electioneering? We think not...

Who are the Sifters?

The above PT article on the Quasi-Elect was published by Bro. Jolly in 1978. As reference to sifters, note the following excerpt which is in the header of this blog, found in E10, page 115:

"...
The Assyrian here, as in Micah 5: 5, 6, represents 'those who make spoil of God’s people by devastating the Truth and its Spirit'..."

"... The Lord’s true sheep will heed only the voice of the Good Shepherd; they will study to show themselves approved unto God, rightly dividing the word of truth (2 Tim. 2: 15). They will keep themselves in the love of God and in the most holy faith. The Truth and its Spirit will be the touchstones that will determine for them which is true and which is false..."

The question has been asked "Who are the Sifters?" We understand it to be those who have devastated the Truth...like in the example above. Satan never addresses the Truth. Instead, he diverts attention from it and attacks one's character.

The Executive Trustee still has not addressed why he changed the work of the Spirit Begotten. His 2004 modified PT article on the Quasi-Elect has the "our present view" idea which states that the inception of the Youthful Worthies is in 1878. THIS CHANGE IS A SEVERE VIOLATION OF THE ARRANGEMENTS.
Since then, he has attacked the characters of individuals and local Epiphany classes for their inquires into this radical change of the Epiphany Truth. Oddly, he accuses them of going against the arrangements. What should we call his handywork of changing existing Truth in the above Quasi-Elect article? Advancing Truth?

We're on the second page of references where the Executive Trustee developed his error on the Youthful Worthies. The first misread sentence here, like the one on the previous page, also has the Naomi class as the subject. Bro. Johnson gives us the entire 3 ½ year journey for the Naomi and Ruth classes. To make this one work for the ET, we need to get rid of the 3 ½ year process completely. Unfortunately, this changes the journey by forcing the difficult obstacles to full consecration to be overcome quickly and immediately.

The second sentence is from the Ruth class point of view, showing their 3 ½ year journey from tentative justification toward full consecration. To make this work for the ET, we are yet again forced to make it an instantaneous event in 1878. The time in between their starting location in Moab and their ending location in Judah must be removed.

(Click the above image for best quality.)

We are at the first of two pages that are the foundation for the Executive Trustee's error on the Youthful Worthies. He thinks a sentence on this page reads that they exist in 1878. But he is not reading it correctly, especially in light of all of the pages we've had to modify. We've detailed this sentence before, but we'll do it again since we're on the page.

Here, Bro. Johnson describes the Naomi class journey (they are the subject) viewed from their destination (“came back”) and says that they arrived with (“brought back with them”) the Ruth class in her completed condition at the end of the journey (fully consecrated after overcoming difficult obstacles) and mentions when they began the journey (“from 1878 on”) as a tentatively justified class.

In order for this sentence to work for the Executive Trustee, we need to change the journey to a completed action in 1878. The Naomi and Ruth classes must arrive in 1878. That, of course, eliminates the journey, the difficult obstacles and provides no window of time for the other tentatively justified class, the Orpah class, to attempt to fully consecrate and come into the Truth.

Truth Reavealed in Due Times II

PT. 1977 Pg. 90

...(g) There are also many other truths that are not yet due to be understood, for "the path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day" (Prov. 4: 18; A 20-28). In due time another book will be opened, which is the book of life, with further enlightenment on New Covenant revelations not yet due to be understood and expounded (Rev. 20: 12).

(25) "The mystery, which was kept secret since the world began," finally became "meat in due season" and was "made manifest to the saints" in the beginning of the Gospel Age, when they needed this information (Luke 16: 16; Rom. 16: 25, 26; Col. 1: 26). Similarly, truths and Scriptures pertaining to the Youthful Worthies were unfolded when needed, especially after 1916, for their encouragement and development as a class...

Truths Revealed in Due Times

(24) God "hath in due times manifested his word" (Titus 1: 3), prior to which times it was impossible to unlock its secrets. For examples:...

...(e) During the 40-year Parousia, the time of the Little Flock's reaping, Bro. Russell thought that the Time of Trouble would end shortly after 1914; and it is not yet due for us to know exactly when it will end. Also, in F 128, 129, Bro. Russell gave an immature thought when he wrote that Gershon types "the saved world of mankind" (see F, Appendix, Note 1, for further light on this as it became due). Bro. Russell brought forth light on the non-Spirit-begotten consecrated—the Youthful Worthies—as it became due to be given in the Parousia period after the general call to the High Calling ended in 1881; but many Scriptures regarding the Youthful Worthies were not opened up through God's special servants for them until they came forth as a separate class in the Epiphany, with special need for this Truth as due.

The Lopsided Presentation of Truth

PT 1966 Pg. 45-47
Question (1966)—What is meant by “a lopsided presentation of Truth”?

Answer.—It is a presentation of Truth that is not
well balanced; it leans more to one side than to the
other, often emphasizing one side of the truth on a
subject, even to the exclusion of, the ignoring of, or
the denial of any other side of the same truth, thus
giving an unbalanced, biased viewpoint, which usually
leads into serious error. It is another very subtle way
in which Satan works to deceive the Lord’s people.

To illustrate: Bro. Johnson (as set forth in the
answer to the previous question) showed clearly that
the Epiphany, or Apocalypse, period is (1) in its
narrow, or restricted, sense the period from 1914 to
1954...

Page 353 falls into the same category as the previously edited pages, but with one additional issue. By modifying Bro. Johnson's comments to Pastor Russell's text, it no longer makes much sense and it almost forces us to edit his work as well. By now, you can see how much this "present view" idea changes the Truth.

Some Pyramid Corroborations of Epiphany Dates

PT 1947, pages 7-14:

...and to the High Calling, with its end at the time of the last Spirit-begettal, Sept. 16, 1914, when the final "living stone" was set in the Body, to be built up to Jesus as the heavenly Head-stone...

...May not these 7 overlapings of 3 inches each suggest that all of those who walk in the High Calling as candidates for the Divine nature will eventually be in one of three classes: the Second Death, The Great Company or the Little Flock?

...[We think Bro. Jolly's application worthy of careful thought. And let us praise our God for His marvels!—The Editor.]...

Bro. Johnson appreciated the detailed letter Bro. Jolly sent to him pertaining to the Great Pyramid. You will notice the High Calling activity took place up to 1914. Candidates who were running for the "One Hope" of Eph. 4: 4 eventually will be in one of three classes. You will also notice the Youthful Worthies aren't mentioned.

Letter of General Interest

PT July 1935, page 118: "I also found a brother who used every argument he could concoct to resist the thought that we are in the Epiphany. He could not see a number of points I presented. Naturally I looked for the cause of his blindness on many simple truths that brethren not so gifted mentally as he is could easily see. So I asked him if he believed that the Harvest reaping had ended, that the High Calling had closed and that the Youthful Worthies are now being selected. He replied, No, to each question. Then I asked him when he consecrated, and he replied, in 1924. I urged him to guard his heart with all diligence and to avoid self-will, accepting the Lord's will instead, and resting in it. I fear that many candidates for Youthful Worthiship will lose out by resisting the Lord and His Truth and by insisting in self-will on marrying the Lord without His proposing to them." --Bro. R. G. Jolly

Page 339 is a lot like page 337. We have an obvious reference showing when unbegotten consecrators began to exist. The date is not 1878 as the Executive Trustee suggests, nor is there mention of a Youthful Worthy call as he shows in his "custom" Chart of the Ages that was introduced at the Ohio convention in 2009. How is it possible that a non Spirit-begotten individual can create a chart that has never existed before or modify the work of Bro. Russell?

Does History Repeat Itself?

Question (1972)—Is it proper to pray for those Epiphany-enlightened Truth brethren who have brought forth serious error and who have been spreading it more or less widely among the Lord’s people, thus doing a sifting work?

Answer.—It depends on whether or not the individuals are new creatures. In E. 4, p. 122, Bro. Johnson says: “All new-creaturely sifters defile God’s Temple... But how about those who consecrated here in the end of the Age, but for whom no crowns were available, the Spirit-enlightened but not Spirit begotten ones, including all consecrators since the Fall of 1914, when the door of entrance into the High Calling closed (see PT No. 515)? Shortly before his death the Epiphany Messenger is said to have remarked that after his death the Youthful Worthies would be tested along the same lines that the new creatures had been tested during the Epiphany, and that he looked for many of them to fall in similar ways (see P. ’55, p. 66, par. 4). This prediction has certainly come true. And the principle given in Prov. 16: 18 (“Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall”) has been manifested to a large extent by sifting errorists who have arisen from among the Youthful Worthies and have persisted despite expostulations from the Scriptures...

(Click the above image for best quality.)
Page 337 is also a dilemma for the Executive Trustee. All those who were consecrating and proving faithful, and finding no crowns available for themselves, must now have that possibility starting in 1878. It is amazing that the "present view" idea that came from E4, pages 375 and 376 contradicts so many references in the same book. Does the Executive Trustee actually believe that Bro. Johnson changed his mind between 337 and 375? Why don't the brethren defend Bro. Johnson instead of supporting a man, a movement and such error?

The Epiphany Antitype-Immature Application

(28) Bro. Russell is not to be faulted for his immature application (in F 129) of the Gershonite Levites antitypically to "the saved world of mankind," because it was made before the fuller Truth on these Levites correctly applying antitypically to the Youthful Worthies was due to be understood (see E 4, p. 323). Likewise, Bro. Johnson is not to be faulted for making an immature application in E 11, p. 715, of "the five daughters of Zelophehad-(Num. 27: 1-11)" to the Youthful Worthies, because it was made before the fuller truth on them was due to be understood. He did not identify five groups of the Youthful Worthies as being typed by them. But his applying these daughters as typing the Youthful Worthies—Spirit-enlightened, non-Spirit-begotten fully consecrated ones—helps us to understand that these daughters do type associated tentatively justified brethren who in the post-Sept. 16, 1954 Epiphany period become Spirit-enlightened, non-Spirit-begotten fully consecrated ones—i.e., Consecrated Epiphany Campers. As we shall see from what follows, the Scriptures, reason and facts show that these daughters could not type Youthful Worthies; rather, in this setting they type Consecrated Epiphany Campers.

Crowns - How Lord Chooses Replacements Since 1881.

Questions (1921)—Would not the Lord since 1881 invariably choose for vacant crowns those consecrators who were in the Truth?

Answer.—The Scriptures and facts given under the preceding question prove that such was not His course. He doubtless decided rather from the standpoint of the availability of the candidates for the particular vacant crown. This principle would cause Him sometimes to choose from those consecrators who were in the Truth, and sometimes from those not in the Truth, the latter furnishing the majority of those who were favored with the spirit begettal during the Harvest. Hence it is to be concluded that not the amount of Truth possessed, but the quality of the heart’s attitude toward the Truth possessed would be the largest factor in determining the Lord’s choice for a special crown. He coupled, of course, with this the person’s talents and providential situation as helping to make him available for that particular crown. ’21-30

(Click the above image for best quality.)
Page 327 offers the Executive Trustee a problem. Bro. Johnson tells us plainly that it is from 1881, not 1878, when there are brethren who are not Spirit begotten. That has to be moved back to meet the "present view" idea. We also have to move their development to the Harvest.

Bro. Jolly explains this in PT May-June, 1963, p. 43:
"Somewhat similarly, the Youthful Worthies, though developed as a class in the Epiphany, will nevertheless have their eventual inheritance as Millennial and post-Millennial Levites (E 4, p. 323; P '40, pp. 13, 14); they are not really Epiphany Levites, for the Great Company in its three groups—Kohathites, Merarites and Gershonites—are the Epiphany Levites. But their being Millennial Levites does not mean that the Millennial-Age Tabernacle must be in operation in the time in which they are developed in this life.

From the standpoint of their development, the Youthful Worthies are persisting Gospel-Age Levites. Note, e.g., Bro. Johnson's statements in E 4, p. 322: 'Remember of the Gospel-Age Levites that they lap over the Harvest Period, because of the lapping of the two Ages. . . . During the Transitional Period those Levites, the tentatively justified, who will not consecrate lose their tentative justification, i.e., cease to be tentative Levites and are put out of the Court; while those who do consecrate, the Youthful Worthies, retain their tentative justification and remain in the Court as Gospel-Age Levites [italics ours] of three groups, Kohathites, Merarites and Gershonites, throughout the Transitional Period.'

Thus the Youthful Worthies are 'persisting Gospel Age Levites in the transition time'—in the Epiphany Tabernacle—though they have their eventual inheritance as Millennial Levites. But this does not mean that the Gospel-Age and the Millennial-Age Tabernacles are "working" now. Only the Epiphany Tabernacle is 'working' now."

Now to page 323. If the Truth on the Youthful Worthies was not due before the Epiphany, then the Executive Trustee's separate and distinct class existing since 1881 was hidden for some unknown reason. The best we can do with this page is to point out this oddity.

Psalms 107: 10, 11 - Supporting Error

E5 Pg 135: (57) The sixth slaughter weapon is Revolutionism (Ps. 107: 10, 11); and the Revolutionists are represented by the sixth slaughter-weapon man. Whoever among the consecrated revolts against the Lord's Truth and arrangements given through "that Servant" is represented in the sixth slaughter-weapon man; and whoever among the consecrated imbibes his errors and supports him in his practices is represented by those slain in the temple. Revolutionism has assumed several forms among Truth people: setting aside Truth by error and setting aside right arrangements by wrong ones. Both practices are against the Lord's protective ways given through "that Servant." One of the worst forms of the latter is Clericalism, which has manifested itself in two forms, general and local. General Clericalism has gotten control of the organizations among the Lord's people, and has more or less dominated over the general Church, while local clericalism manifests itself in local elders grasping for power and lording it over the ecclesias. One of our dear Pastor's last warnings was against clericalists, given in the article on "The Hour of Temptation" (Z. 1916, p. 327).

French Correction, The Correction?

The Executive Trustee made a correction to the Ruth discourse he printed in the Winter issue. What was put forward in the recent Spring PT shows just how bizarre things have become. Instead of admitting that the entire discourse is not Bro. Johnson's words (even after we pointed it out), he calls the correction a misstatement. This is not accurate.

Merriam-Webster defines misstatement as, "to state incorrectly : give a false account of."

In reality, he correctly stated the errors as they exist in the original French document--but in a modern English translation. So, there is no misstatement. Please remember that what you are reading in this Ruth series is actually the following:

A French-speaking sister listens to Bro. Johnson and takes shorthand notes of his spoken discourse in French or English. Later, she types those notes in French into a document. The completed document from the unknown sister sits idle for almost 77 years. In 2009, it is translated back to modern English to be published in these PTs.

The Executive Trustee doesn't provide this information. He doesn't even make reference to the modern translator or thank the person for their translation. His correction should have been an apology to his readers for trying to pawn off this discourse as Bro. Johnson's own words. Where is the editorial integrity?

We're on page 318 and in need of a new marker. The Executive Trustee mentioned this reference during a California convention where he asked the brethren if they knew how to read. As you can see from our edits, he should have addressed himself. In order to make it work for him, we have to move the date and activity of individuals from 1881 to 1878 and the Epiphany class time period "now are" to 1881.

As was previously shown on this blog, the grammar is clear when you look at it. With our bracketed comments, the first part says: "Before the General Call to the Divine nature and joint-heirship with Christ ceased in 1881, the persons that we call 'Youthful Worthies' did not exist as individuals of a class; but since that time [the date given, 1881] they [plural, these persons or individuals] have been [in existence], and now [when written, in the Epiphany] are coming as such [a class] into existence, and are showing evidence of existence as such [a class]."

We turn to page 211 in E4 with our edits. We could have modified many pages in the Azazel's Goat chapter, such as pages 163-167 or 217, but that would require a lot of marker ink. The chapter deals with the Little Flock and the Great Company, the first of the Epiphany's Elect. But because the Executive Trustee has moved the call of the Youthful Worthies to 1878 and their existence as a class to 1881, they should be mentioned everywhere in this chapter. Page 211 at least gives us the possibility to correct the one key sentence referring to ALL consecrators and then move on.

Bro. August Gohlke Defends Previously Held Truth

In Question Book, p. 152 (comp. p. 153) we have the following question (of 1911) with Bro Russell's answer: "If any consecrated now and failed to be begotten of the Holy Spirit, where would the Lord place them?

"Answer. We would presume that if they were faithful, as the prophets of old were faithful, to the extent of laying down their lives in the service of righteousness and truth, that God would give them a share some way with the ancient worthies. In other words, that if such should pass into the time of trouble to a considerable degree, and there lose their lives because of faithfulness to the Lord, that he would do just the same for them that he will do for the ancient worthies—they will be counted in with the ancient worthy class."
Also, we read this in F 157: "Possibly they may be counted in with the ancient worthies who had the sacrificing disposition that is pleasing to God, prior to the beginning of the `high calling.'"
Thus Bro. Russell taught clearly that those consecrating after Oct. 1881 for whom no crowns were available would if faithful be "a similar class" to the Ancient Worthies and would share with them in similar nature and reward. But Bro. Russell did not give Scriptures to prove the existence of this class of consecrators.

THE YOUTHFUL WORTHY CLASS
The Lord in due time brought forth Scriptures proving the existence of a consecrated, non-Spirit-begotten class here in the end of the Age. It was through Bro. Johnson that He pointed out the Youthful Worthy class, the "young men [literally, youthfuls]" of Joel 2: 28, the earthen vessels of 2 Tim. 2: 20, the Millennial Gershonite Levites, a part of antitypical Elisha, Abed-nego in the fiery furnace, antitypical Ruth, the men of Ephraim of judges 7: 24—8: 3, the "flock" of Hab. 3: 17 (comp. Z 5383), etc. Many other Scriptures could be given—see PT No. 519; a copy free on request...

PT. 1981 Pg. 69 - 75

...We repeat it: When Bro. Russell spoke of the closing of the door of opportunity making it impossible for new ones to enter opportunities of suffering with Christ in preaching the Gospel, he meant the end of opportunities for new ones to do reaping work; for when he discussed that question in C (the Church's witness work to the world being then only incidental to harvesting), reaping was the only way of preaching the Gospel to others not in the Truth of which he then was aware as unfinished work for the Little Flock in the flesh. Hence, according to his view, after the reaping was finished there would be no more opportunity for new ones to enter into suffering with Christ as members of His Body, which implies that the door in sense (a) and means that the door in sense (b) would then be closed. But the reaping being ended in 1914 and the gleaning in 1916, no new aspirants could enter the High Calling, since it was after 1914 impossible for new consecrators to enter into opportunities to suffer with Christ as members of His Body, for this could be done only in connection with a work forever ended in 1914.

By the above we, of course, do not mean that there would be no more proclaiming of the Truth after the reaping was over, nor opportunity for the remaining Little Flock members, fully gathered, to suffer with Christ (though it could no longer be done in reaping); for certainly other service than reaping work was needed by the remaining Little Flock members after 1914, e.g., for building up one another, for dealing with the Great Company and the Youthful Worthies and for doing some work toward the public...

...All of such should consider carefully and soberly also that the losing of crowns by some and others being Spirit-begotten to take their places would not go on indefinitely, but must taper off and cease after a number of years and that if nothing else, just the passage of time—an entire century—should convince all of us that the loss of crowns and their being assigned to others would surely have ceased by now.

Furthermore, all of such should consider carefully and soberly if Bro. Russell was indeed not right in his teaching from the Scriptures, clearly corroborated by the Pyramid, that the Gospel Harvest reaping—and the door of entrance into the High Calling—closed, finally in the Fall of 1914, especially in view of all the evidence from Scripture, reason and facts presented in this article, PT No. 515 and elsewhere, and that therefore all consecrating since the Fall of 1914 have the grand privilege to be, not aspirants to the High Calling, but of "Those Consecrating Between the Ages" (Z 5761), the non-Spirit-begotten consecrated ones, who have the enlightenment, heart-warming and energizing of the holy Spirit, just as the Ancient Worthies did, and who as pre-Millennial consecrated ones will be associated with the Ancient Worthies in the Kingdom.

The Youthful Worthies, the fourth of the elect classes (see PT No. 519—a copy free on request), are as antitypical Levites to share the spirit nature after the Millennium with the Ancient Worthies (Z 5182).

It is high time for all Truth people to be awake and alert to the present situation in the Epiphany, or Apokalypsis, period, the Time of Trouble. We believe that, in view of the above-mentioned considerations from the Scriptures, reason and facts, all the consecrated should in proper humility now recognize their true standing before the Lord, not as prospective Little Flock and Great Company members, but as of "Those Consecrating Between the Ages."

The current Executive Trustee of the BS Ministries still insists on propping up his "present view" while ignoring these words of common sense. You will notice Bro. Gohlke doesn't contradict the Parousia and Epiphany Servants. He agrees with and builds on previous held Truths.
